Virginia Odell Watlington Mims

Reidsville, NC - It is with profound sorrow we announce the death of Mrs. Virginia Odell Watlington Mims of 341 Mims Farm Rd. Reidsville, NC, who passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, in the AuthoraCare Hospice Home, Burlington, NC.

She was a native of Caswell County the daughter of the late Azzie Rice Watlington and Hattie Poole Watlington, born January 7, 1926. She was a member of Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and a member of the missionary circle.

Mrs. Odell, who she was called by many was a homemaker. Beyond being a homemaker, she worked beside her husband John on the family farm.

 Mrs. Odell loved her church; she had a strong faith and belief in God, her passions, and most importantly, her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Buck" Mims; one daughter, Sylvia Mims; one son, Kenneth Mims; two sisters, Mable Brown and Wilma Graves; two brothers, Roosevelt Watlington and Percy Watlington.

Odell has been greeted in heaven, by her father, mother, husband, daughter, son, brothers, and sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Darnce Mims (Savannah) of Reidsville, NC,  Talcot Mims (Lydia) of South Carolina and Rev. Richard Mims (Stella) of Carrollton, VA; two daughters, Wylinder Love (Larry) of Danville, VA., and Sharon James (Walter) of Elon, NC; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Mims of High Point, NC;12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great- great grandchild; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A viewing for Mrs. Virginia Odell Watlington Mims will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022; from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Virginia Odell Watlington Mims will be Wednesday, December 28, 2022; at 1:00pm at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC.

Interment will follow at Blackwell Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Yanceyville, NC.
