Mebane, NC - Mr. Walter Allen Sellars Jr. “Sonny Boy” - dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend - passed away in his sleep at Hospice Burlington, NC on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Walter was born on July 26th, 1946, in Caswell County, NC. He was the son of the late Walter Sellars Sr. and Gracie Williamson Sellars. He joined Burton Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and attended until his health decline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Hamlett; one sister, Annette Sellars; one brother, Clifton Sellars; and two brothers-in-law, Rev. Jimmy Richmond and Thomas Mebane.
He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and traveling. He was a hard worker. He worked at Burlington Industries, and he was a farmer. Walter was blessed with a large and loving family. He met his wife Faye and was blessed with three wonderful children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Through the years, Walter enjoyed hanging with his friends, and spending time with his family. He loved attending NFL football games and traveling.
Walter is survived by his wife, Faye; their children Renee Graves Farrish, Solow (Robert) Williams, a son in law Mark Hamlett, six grandchildren, Jennifer Harrelson, Cameshia Gonzales, Mark Allen Hamlett, Kawaii (Tye) Hamlett, Jayden and Jessie Williams; six sisters, Lillian Mebane of Elon, NC, Dorothy Richmond of Burlington, NC, Linda Sellars of Mebane, NC, Lena McGhee (William) of Mebane, NC, Rev. Jennette Sellars of Elon, NC and Faye Ford (Larry) of Mebane, NC; three brothers, Roosevelt Sellars (Betty) of Mebane, NC, Larry Sellars (Pamela) of Burlington, NC and Wilson Sellars (Juanita) of Augusta, Georgia; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Authora Collective Hospice Home in Burlington, NC. His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Walter!s life in the way he would want to be remembered - as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.
Public viewing for Mr. Walter Allen Sellars Jr. will be Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Walter Allen Sellars Jr. will be conducted at 11:00 am. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Burton's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
