Yanceyville, NC - It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr., of 2450 Burton Chapel Rd. Yanceyville, NC, who died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.

Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. was a native of Caswell County, North Carolina born on December 06, 1924 to the late William B. Johnson and Mary Slade Johnson. 

Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. was educated at the Caswell County Training School; afterwards, he joined the United States Army where he served in World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employee of Copeland Textile Company in Burlington, NC as well as a Tobacco Farmer.

Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. accepted Christ and joined Solid Rock Ark of Safety Holiness Church in Yanceyville, NC, where his love continued to flourish for his church, family, and community as he full-filled his calling as the National Church Father.

In addition to his parents, Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Monnie Lea Johnson; two sons, John Frank Johnson, and George Johnson; three sisters, Spranzie Harley, Ethel Rhodes, and Mary Ida Watlington; two brothers, James Johnson, and Wayme Johnson; one great grandchild; two great great grandchildren.

Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. leaves to cherish his beloved memories to his: Six daughters, Ingretta Totten (Carlton), Bishop Alice Totten both of Yanceyville, NC, Annette Spencer of Gibsonville, NC, Izetta J. Thomas (William) of Yanceyville, NC, Margie Johnson of Burlington, NC, and Carole Johnson of Yanceyville, NC; eight sons, William Johnson Jr. (Cynthia), Quinton Johnson (Mary) both of Yanceyville, NC, Larry Johnson (Julie) of Reidsville, NC, James Hunter Johnson (Candy) of Eden, NC, Joseph Johnson (Tracey), Vernon Johnson (Diane),  and Carl Johnson (Michelle) all of Yanceyville, NC; sister-in-law, Jesse Poteat Totten of Reidsville, NC; 48 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and  3 Godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be Friday, July 31, 2020 from 2 to 8 pm in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home (Per CDC Guidelines:  Facial Masks are required).

Funeral Services for Mr. William Albert Johnson Sr. will be Saturday, August 01, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Sweet Gum Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 8609 NC-119, Mebane, NC 27302 (Also Live-Streaming). Apostle David Dupree will deliver the words of comfort. Military Rites and Interment will follow at the Johnson Family Cemetery in Yanceyville, NC.

The family may be contacted at his daughter Carole Johnson’s residence (2583 Burton Chapel Road, Yanceyville, NC 27379) from 2 to 6 pm daily (Please wear facial mask).
