Yanceyville, NC - 

A much-needed rest came quietly to Mr. William “David” Totten, Jr. on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2024, after a brief illness in the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC.

He was the son of the late William “Bill” and Virginia “Jenny” Totten, born August 23, 1956, in Danville, Virginia. 

David accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church in Yanceyville, NC.  In his earlier years, he was an active member of the Youth Choir, Usher Board and Boy scouts.  During his later years, he served on the Trustee Board, Deacon Board, and Cemetery Committee.

David graduated from Bartlett Yancey Senior High School, Class of 1974 and excelled in the sports of basketball and football.  Afterwards, he received his HVAC Certification from Alamance Community College.  He was an employee of Global Textile Alliance Incorporated in Reidsville, NC as an Industrial Mechanic and was in the process of retiring after 10 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Fred and Mary Williamson; maternal grandparents Clayton and Lila Bell Miles; brother Irvin Murray and sister Vanessa Totten.

David will forever hold a special place in the hearts of many, those left to cherish his legacy and precious memories are; Sons David Lamont (Ericka) Totten of Atlanta, GA; William Craig (Latesha ) Totten of Bowie, MD; God son, Teddy Stewart ( Desiree) of Greensboro, NC; Grandchildren William Elijah and Chloe Totten of Bowie, MD; Sisters Sheila Diane Williamson (Scott) of Yanceyville, NC; Vickie Hinton (Henri) of Durham, NC; Brothers Carl Miles of Yanceyville, NC, Jerry Totten (Crystal) of Durham, NC and Sherman Totten of Durham, NC; Uncle Fred Williamson Jr.; Aunts Mary Lou McCain and Janie Belle Watkins; former wife, Barbara Waller Totten of Danville, VA.; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of cousins, family and Special Companion Joyce Williams; other relatives and friends.

Public viewing for Mr. William David Totten, Jr. will be Saturday, February 17, 2024; from 2 pm to 7 pm in the John and Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home. 

Funeral services for Mr. William David Totten, Jr. will be Sunday, February 18, 2024; 2:00 PM at Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor A.N. Grier II will deliver the words of comfort. Interment will follow in the Yanceyville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
